MOE Gems & Jewellery was founded in 1996 by the fourth generation jeweller Marlar Min. Formerly an English lecturer at the University of Mandalay, she combined her parents' traditional gold business with her love for gemstones, hence the birth of MOE Gems & Jewellery. "Moe" is her childhood nickname, meaning "rain" in Burmese, in reference to the rain at her time of birth.

Marlar works closely with gemstones that are sourced directly from Mogok, a mining city located 120 miles north of Mandalay. We strive to provide jewellery set with precious and semiprecious gemstones from Mogok. We pride immensely in our precious ruby and sapphire collection, where the best quality is found only in Mogok in the entire world.

Today, MOE Gems and Jewellery is run by a family of women. Behind the brand stands Marlar, her third generation jeweller mother Mya Mya, her younger sisters with their respective jewellery businesses and her nieces.
